Andaman Resort & Nature Spa
Pulau Langkawi, Malaysia
This low-rise resort on the tropical island of Langkawi consists of 188 guestrooms, including suites, with all necessary support facilities and amenities. The design draws on elements of local tradition: the two-tiered roof, for example, replicates a particular form found only in this part of Malaysia. Materials are also for the most part locally sourced: black Langkawi stone and red Balau timber were used extensively throughout the project. The warm colours and texture of the roof coverings come from Berlian shingles - another local natural material.
