Central Post Office
Kerman, Iran
The Central Post Office is a three-storey structure combining public counters with administrative, training, storage and parking facilities. The design offers a contemporary interpretation of the traditional architecture of Kerman, emphasising open and interconnecting spaces filled with natural light and colour. The reinforced concrete structure is clad in bands of yellow and red brick, set above a stone plinth. The building's representative function is indicated by the tall tower on its west side: the tower evokes the fort at Bam, destroyed by an earthquake while the post office was under construction.
