Old Court Building Renovation
Kuwait City, Kuwait
Once a dilapidated structure used to house the Kuwait Civic Court, the building has been re-adapted into government offices with the addition of new elements while maintaining the essential character of the original court. Each courtyard displays a different floor pattern executed in geometric tiles. The same module and layout were repeated on the first floor. Air conditioning implements have been introduced along the existing corridors in an unobtrusive fashion, thus eschewing the addition of false ceilings which would have altered the original height and proportions of the rooms. The original woodwork was reproduced in solid teak.
