Al-Fahed Mosque
Kuwait City, Kuwait
The mosque is built on a trapezoidal site. The prayer hall forms the main part of the building as it occupies a two-storey high column space, entered directly from a large entrance lobby. The central area of the prayer hall is covered by a stepped pyramidal roof lit by skylights. The library and ladies prayer room are located on the first floor. Lighting is provided by high level windows and side openings protected on the outside by aluminium mashrabiyyas. A double wall system serves for both thermal insulation and ventilation. There are three entrances to the building: the main axial access, a side entrance reached from the car park and gold market, and a separate access for women.
