Kuantan Hyatt Hotel
Kuantan, Malaysia
This 252-room hotel of international repute was constructed on a narrow site between an area of dense vegetation and the beach. Restaurants, administration, and all communal areas are located to the south in several two-storey pavilions linked by open terraces, recalling the open layout of traditional villages. Guest rooms are housed in two staggered blocks of four-storeys. Both accomodation blocks are designed with a densely planted octagonal interior court and are linked at each level. All buildings have pitched roofs and the pavilion roofs are characterized by large, overhanging eaves providing shade to the verandahs and facing natural ventilation. A system of terraces and pools links the hotel facilities with the beach.
