Hawd al-Sultan Qaytbay

Sultan Qaytbay built this drinking trough as a continuation of his development of this street (see also the Wikala and Sabil-kuttab of Qaytbay). The interior now sites one meter below street level. The rafraf and its wooden infill doors and panels are Comité de Conservation des Monuments de l’Art Arabe work. The building was restored in 1998 by the Centre for Conservation and Preservation of Islamic Architectural Heritage.
