Parkroyal on Pickering
Singapore, Singapore
Designed as a hotel and office in a garden, the project serves as an example of how greenery can be preserved in a builtup, high rise city centre, in a manner that is architecturally striking and sustainable. A contoured podium rising from the street level mimics natural landscapes and mountain rock formations and the structure achieves 15,000m2 of sky-gardens, reflecting pools, waterfalls, planter terraces and green walls, attracting animals and insects and increasing biodiversity within the city. The crisp and streamlined tower blocks harmonize with surrounding high-rise office buildings. They are attenuated into an open-sided courtyard configuration, breaking down the wall of buildings effect and maximizing views and daylight.
