Al Hamra Firdous Tower
Kuwait City, Kuwait

Prominently located on Kuwait City’s peninsula , Al Hamra Tower is a mixed-use development anchored by an office tower with dramatic views over the water. As Kuwait’s tallest building, it serves as a landmark and symbol of the country. The building geometry is generated by subtracting a spiraling slice from a simple prismatic volume, with two resulting flare walls that extend from the central core and stretch the full height of the tower. In response to the desert conditions and high temperatures, the tower’s sculptural form is wrapped in curved vision glass on the east, north and west, but the south façade, exposed to the most severe sun, is clad in brushed Jura limestone, punctured by a series of angled sliver windows.
