Designed to reflect the character of a traditional wooden fishing boat and a modern aircraft, the pedestrian bridge was developed as part of the $24 million 'Development of Arad Bay Protectorate Area', a recreational park and corniche around a natural bay. Opened in 2010, the bridge allows local residents to access the Arad Bay Corniche. Entry to the overpass is through concrete ramps together with panoramic elevators. The entire bridge is covered with a waterproof PVC tensile fabric roof over curved 'glue laminated' (glulam) timber ribs, and enclosed on the sides with transparent stainless steel wire cloth. Protective railings are provided all along the ramp and the overpass.
