New Aga Khan Award for Architecture Publication on ArchNet
The official publication detailing the ninth cycle of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture is now available on ArchNet.

Architecture and Polyphony: Building in the Islamic World Today, edited by Philippa Baker, devotes a chapter to each of the seven winning projects from the 2002-2004 cycle. These include the Al-Abbas Mosque Reconstruction, B2 House, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Old City of Jerusalem Revitalisation Programme, Petronas Office Towers, Primary School at Gando, and Sandbag Shelters. The publication also includes contributions from jury members and 280 illustrations and photographs of the project sites.

The Aga Khan Award for Architecture is a triennial award that recognizes distinctive architecture, urban planning, reconstruction, and rehabilitation efforts within Islamic communities. Award recipients are selected by an independent Master Jury composed of a slate of prestigious architects, artists, and academics.

International Directory of Researchers Launches
Academia.edu offers a visualized directory of academics from around the world working in all areas of research. Entries include the name of the researcher, the institution they are affiliated with, a listing of their research interests, and updates about their work.

The directory takes the form of a 'tree,' with each academic institution branching off into departments, which themselves branch off into listings of researchers within the department. Entries can also be sorted by research interests, allowing users to quickly identify others involved in specific fields.

Academics - including professors, post-doctoral researchers, and graduate students - can add themselves to the directory. Users can maintain their own entry with updates on their work and add other researchers as "contacts" to help track developments within their fields of interest.

To add yourself to the directory, visit www.academia.edu and find your university and department. If either are not yet included, you can add them to the directory.
