The Strategy provides an overview of land use and management challenges in the High Pamir and Pamir-Alai mountains of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan and outlines strategic directions for mitigating the causes and negative impacts of land degradation on the transboundary ecosystems of the region and on the livelihoods and security of its inhabitants. It includes four action plans on forest and wildlife management, on increasing the efficiency of farming, on sustainable pasture use and livestock breeding, and on reducing risks of and vulnerability to natural hazards.&nbsp;<br><br>The Strategy was developed in the framework of a project on Sustainable Land Management in the High Pamir and Pamir-Alai Mountains (PALM) executed by the Committee on Environment Conservation under the Government of Tajikistan and the National Center for Mountain Regions Development in Kyrgyzstan with financial support from the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
