This report summarizes the outcomes of the assessment and desk-review analysis undertaken of achievements in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and the implementation of Hyogo Framework for Action in Kyrgyzstan, which aims to be included in the preparation of the second Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction for the period 2010-2011.&nbsp;<br><br>It first introduces the (i) country context and background information, then analyses its (ii) hazard profile and vulnerability to disasters such as earthquakes, flooding, mudslides, avalanches, snowstorms, drought, heat waves, windstorms, and mountain lake spills - including climate change-related impacts and man-made disaster risks, as well as the (iii) institutional and legislative frameworks implemented. It presents the (iv) country's consistent work in disaster prevention, the governmental programmes, policy, activities in urban and hospital safety, disaster insurance penetration, giving some examples of successful experience of DRR actors in Kyrgyzstan. Lastly, it highlights its (v) implication in regional and international cooperation.
