"A National Disaster Risk Management Strategy (NDRMS) for 2010-2015, endorsed by the Government of the republic of Tajikistan on 30th May of 2010, is a key strategic document in the field of disaster risk management in Tajikistan. The NDRMS is based on the recommendations of the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) for 2005-2015. It is further based on an analysis of disaster risk management challenges faced in Tajikistan and the five priorities set out in the HFA. These priorities are to reduce disaster losses in livelihoods, social, economic, and environmental assets of communities and countries. The NDRMS identifies five broad components to improve disaster risk management in Tajikistan for the period of 2010-2015. Under each of these components an action plan identifies a range of activities to accomplish goals of reducing preventable harm from natural and technological disasters leading to improved lives and well-being in Tajikistan."
