This paper discusses the impact of technological advances in architecture and construction in the modern world while outlining several achievements in 'oriental' and eastern architecture as well. Fathy asserts that eastern methods have largely been undermined in the realm of construction technology and suggests that traditional methods and techniques of construction, common to the eastern regions of the world, should undergo technological advances to improve their usability and benefit factors in construction.
