In this conference paper, Fathy outlines some aspects of the problems pertaining to housing construction in order to highlight some of the basic fundamentals needed in residential planning and design. He discusses the relation of the development of technology and economical growth in Third World and developing countries to the development of housing construction. Furthermore, he discusses how this relation can potentially benefit socio-economical development.
