Masjid al-Mar'a
Cairo, Egypt
The Mosque of al-Mar'a, or "Mosque of the Women," is also known by the name of Fatima Shaqra on the unfounded belief that it was built by the daughter of a Mamluk amir. The only remaining Mamluk elements of the mosque that survive are the portal and the mihrab. The rest of the mosque, including the minaret, which has been heavily scaffolded since the 1992 earthquake, are Ottoman additions.
