Baan Suan Sa-nghob
Bangkok, Thailand
The architect is a qualified pilot and his fascination with aeronautical detailing defines this contemporary house that embraces its richly forested plot in Bangkok. Floor to ceiling glazing blurs the distinction between internal and external space and a six metre sliding wall enables the dining room to be fully opened to the terrace and pool beyond. Tension wires carry wind loads externally and internally they add expression to stairs, railings and bathroom fixtures. Exposed services make further reference to aviation. Shading from the trees is enhanced with expanded metal shading and a metal lined roof pond that keeps temperatures down.
