Sahar Housing Complex
Kish, Iran
Kish Island is a popular tourist destination, and this project was built by a group of engineers and architects to provide small units mainly for seasonal use. The design aims to work in harmony with its seaside setting. Corridors between the units open up views but also allow cooling sea breezes to circulate around the building and, to the same end, the structure is raised on pilotis. Horizontal circulation has been located to the west, where semi-open walkways double as brise soleils to deflect harsh western sunlight. In response to a lack of high-quality craftsmanship on the island, construction and detailing are simple.
