Malek Zadeh House
Yazd, Iran
This house dates from the Qajar era and is located in the historic Fahadan district of Yazd. There are documents that attest to its importance as a focus for community religious ceremonies. It was the first restoration project in the district and stands as a model for future reuse projects. Structural elements were reinforced rather than replaced and the important decorations within the main courtyard carefully reproduced. These depict religious poetry and explain the house's popularity as a place of worship. The building now functions as a guest house.
