Syed Maratib Ali Sports Complex
Lahore, Pakistan
This multi-functional sports building forms the northernmost point of the university campus. It takes inspiration from Lahore’s old walled city in its form and construction, with an octagonal main hall surrounded by sixteen alternately double and single height wings. This gives the relatively simple plan form a rich complexity, continuing the tradition of reflecting Lahore’s creative history through architectural expression. The concrete frame structure is in-filled with exposed brickwork and steel trusses support the profiled metal roof deck. The main hall is suitable for conferences as well as sports and the smaller wings accommodate gyms, squash courts and support facilities.
