ITU Molecular Biology and Genetic Research Centre
Istanbul, Türkiye
In the simplest terms, the Molecular Biology & Genetics Research Centre is conceived as a glass cube intersected by a glass rectangular prism. The prism embeds all circulation and services and splits the cube into two zones: a front zone with offices and a back area with high-tech labs, support units and classrooms. The steel structure is entirely glazed, creating a visible fluidity between interior and exterior. From the interior there are views of the surrounding wooded landscape. From the outside, passers-by can look in and see the labs in constant use day and night, animating the campus.
