Novotel Al Dana Resort
Manamah, Bahrain
Novotel Al Dana Resort presents itself as an oasis that creates some 'breathing space' in a discordant urban context defined on the one hand by the low-rise fabric of traditional Muharraq, and on the other by the skyscrapers of neighbouring Manama. The layout of the 175-room hotel is based on a traditional urban plan, with clusters of rooms arranged in a U-shape around a central open space. Traditional elements such as arches, shutters, mashrabiyyas, recesses and wooden handrails are also incorporated to add variety to the elevations. The structure is of reinforced concrete, the walls are of concrete blocks.
