Madrasa al-Jaqmaqiyya
Damascus, Syria

The Museum of Arabic Epigraphy, located along the northern edge of the Great Umayyad Mosque, was established in 1975, to preserve and display the art of Arabic script. The museum, housing collections of illuminated manuscripts and Qurans, is situated in a late 15th century Mamluk madrasa, decorated with colorful stones in geometric arrangements and stained glass windows.
