Guest House
Fatehpur Sikri, India
The guest house, or hospitalia, is built up against the western wall of the Treasury building of Fatehpur Sikri. The building was covered by a gabled roof; the soffits of the stone roof slabs were carved, and the outside chiseled to imitate tiles. The building stands within the zenana enclosure. Although a residential function has been attributed to the building, its use in the sixteenth century has yet to be determined.
