Torre de San Martín
Teruel, Spain
This early fourteenth century square tower commands great attention as it extends over its neighboring urban fabric in Teruel, Spain. Elaborately detailed in intricate baked-brick and glazed tile geometric decoration, this Mudejar creation is supported by a sizeable foundation that rises around an arched passageway at the base of the structure. Constructed between 1315 and 1316, it was first restored in the sixteenth century by the French engineer, Pierre Bedel, and then once again in the twentieth century.
