Central Bazaar
Bukhara, Uzbekistan
The central section of Bukhara has been preserved much as it was in the 17th century. The restoration of the central bazaar was undertaken to revitalise and to bring back a way of life that had flourished in this city for hundreds of years. As most of the bazaar was destroyed by time, much of the work includes totally new structures. The bazaar buildings are constructed of brick with wood detailing. They have covered walkways around the buildings to offer protection from the harsh desert sun.
