Haddada Ksar Rehabilitation
Tataouine, Tunisia
The compound consists of a series vaulted single- and double-height untis divided by load-bearing walls. The Ksar was constructed entirely in mud, clay, and stone. A 72-bed hotel and a restaurant have been introduced by the reorganization of existing interior spaces. The compound consists of 6,000 m2, 300 m2 of which have been rehabilitated. The Ksar has been restored so that the compound is now structurally sound. Facades have been returned to their original condition with the use of soft lime and mud/clay plaster.
