Shahnavaz Khan Residence
Granada, Spain
The project consists of a two-storey villa used as a secondary residence and conceived to integrate Islamic traditions with local vernacular architecture. The construction is square in plan and characterized by a symmetrical composition orientated to the east. Access to the main level is provided by two flights of stairs on the east-west axis leading to the front and back of the house. The main entrance leads to an entry porch and the interior living areas and the back entrance to a patio. The volume is broken by a system of terraces and a large central dome. Fountains, wood screens, and decorative tiles are used throughout the interior spaces.
