Alkaki Office Building
Jiddah, Saudi Arabia
Six-storey, rectangular plan office and residential building oriented to allow a view of the Red Sea from three sides: the lateral elevations are placed perpendicularly to the shore. The exterior facades are pierced with glazed openings, recessed 50cm from the outer surface, to enhance protection against glare. The building's most striking feature is the entrance displaying arcades of variable heights. The various functions of the building are expressed in the architectural composition: the openings of the residential floors are larger and include arched protection for the balconies.
