Xinjiang Ying Bin Hotel
Urumqi, China
The simple and functional layout seeks to achieve a satisfactory transition between external and internal areas as well as a gradation in the hierarchy of spaces. On the other hand, some areas such as the mosque and the presidential suites are treated more lavishly. Circulation patterns within the building determined the internal layout, so as to ensure both communication between the public areas and privacy in other rooms. The building is designed to withstand a seismic intensity of 8 degrees on the Richter scale, and displays a variety of architectural features, including pointed and semi-sircular arches, traditional gypsum ornaments and locally produced blue and white ceramic tiles on the exterior facades.
