Institutional Digital Library -- Creating a New Web Collection
An institutional administrator may upload any number of web pages or collections.
The process has recently been changed. It is a bit more complicated, but it is more stable than previous versions.
There are three steps to the process:
Step 1: Create a sub-folder/directory (where the new web collection will be located).
Step 2: Create a new web collection
Step 3: Add content to the web collection
Step 1: Create a sub-folder/directory
(The new web collection will be located in this folder.)
Go to the Adminstrative page via the left-hand navigational column.

Click on "Edit Digital Library."

Click on "Edit static web pages" at the top of the page.

Type in the name of the new folder/dirctory (e.g. "mudmosques").
Note: Do not use spaces in the folder name.
Click on the "Add" button. (See figure 4 below.)

Your new folder will be added to the list of web collections.
Click on your new folder. (See figure 5 below.)

It will display the "path" of the URL for the new collection.
Highlight and copy the path. (See figure 6 below.) Save this information. It will be used later.

Step 2: Create a New Web Collection
Return to the Administrative page for the Digital Library.
Click on "Edit Digital Library".

Click on "Add a new collection".

Choose the type of collection (Web).
Type in the title of the new web collection.
Type in the description.
Designate if your description is in text or HTML format.
Click on the "Create collection" button. (See figure 9 below.)

Return to the administrative page for the digital library. (See below.)
Click on the new web collection.

Click on "Edit title and description". (See figure 11 below.)

Paste in the "path" that you copied in an earlier step (from figure 6).
Click on the "Confirm" button.

Step 3: Add Content to the Web Collection
Return to the administrative page for the institution's Digital Library (figure 10).
Click on the name of the new web collection.
Click on "Edit contents". (See below.)

Upload the first page of the collection. Locate the file by clicking on the "Browse" button and then the "Add" button. Note: The first page must be called "index.html".

Continue adding HTML files and images (JPG or GIF) to the folder with the "Browse" and "Add" buttons.

The new collection will be visible by all ArchNet members and visitors to the ArchNet site.
