Copying ArchNet Images

The images, text, files, publications, and information provided on ArchNet are for academic, educational, or personal use only. When used, the source, photographer/author, and copyright holder must always be cited.

No image, text, publication, file, or information on ArchNet, either individually or in collections, may be reused, distributed, or sold under any circumstances.

If you would like to publish an image and require copyright permission and a higher resolution copy of the image, please contact the copyright holder directly. The copyright holder is listed with every image. If you need assistance finding the contact information information of the copyright holders, the ArchNet office may be able to help. Please contact archnet@mit.edu.


Copying Images to your Personal Workspace

Any image in the ArchNet Digital Library can be copied and saved to your personal workspace. Most images on ArchNet are in JPG format.

Copied images can be placed in your Personal Image Collection


Copying Images to your Desktop

Any image on ArchNet can be copied and saved to your computer. Most images on ArchNet are in JPG format.

Please remember that these images are to be used for academic, educational, or personal use only. No image on ArchNet may be used for commercial purposes. Also please cite the source, photographer, and copyright holder when you use these images.

To save an image, hold down the mouse button on top of the image you want to save. (On PCs, hold down the right mouse button.) A box will appear. Select "Save this Image as...". (See illustration below.)

You may rename the image if you wish. Select the location on your hard drive where you wish to store the image, and then click on "Save."


Copying Text

Text may be copied and pasted into any text-editing or word-processing software, such as MS Word or WordPerfect.

To copy text, highlight the text you want to copy. Under the File menu, select "Copy." (See illustration below.)

Go to the word-processing document where you want to place the text. Click where you wish to paste the text, and under the Edit menu, select "Paste."


Copying Publications

The PDF documents on ArchNet may be viewed online or downloaded to your computer.

To view a PDF document, you will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer. You may download it for free from the Adobe site at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Go to the publication in the Digital Library that you wish to copy. Click on the PDF file. (See illustration below.)

If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed as a plug-in, the document will show on your screen.

If you wish to download the document on to your computer, under the File menu, select "Save As...". (See illustration below)

Select "Source" as the format, choose where you wish to save the document, and then click on the "Save" button. (See illustration below.) It will be saved on your hard drive and you may open it with Adobe Acrobat Reader.


Printing Publications

The PDF documents on ArchNet may also be printed. To print a document (or part of a document), under the File menu, select "Print...". (See illustration below.) Click on the "Print" button.
