Abstract:
Commodity, delight, and firmness are the three main aspects of architecture. Despite their subdivision, they are interrelated; they are fulfilled in a single result, which is the architectural built artifact-a building. This thesis investigates the interrelation of the constructional and aesthetics of architecture through first a historical review of the of architectural values, the development of the various structural and construction methods before and after the industrial revolution, and finally a review of the contemporary materials and construction techniques. Contemporary universal case studies were analyzed and a framework was drawn. This framework was then applied to contemporary local architectural examples in the city of Amman including residential, commercial, public, and industrial buildings

The research revealed that the aesthetics of architecture are greatly affected by construction methods through out history. The effect was and still is true in essence but variant in expression according to the degree of technological development and the human involvement in the process of construction as seen in the local case studies.

The recommendations of this research conclude that scientific research regarding modernization of the materials, the methods and techniques of construction on the local scale as well as keeping up to date with the national level of development on various issues related to structure is a curtail and critical issue for the enhancement of the aesthetics of architecture for the building companies.
