Abstract:
Jordan architectural heritage suffers from destruction and loss as result of neglect and lack of awareness of the importance of this heritage, lack of legal protection and concentration on the archeological heritage through the archeological law, which enforce the protection on the archaeological monument by the year 1700 leads to the neglect and abundant of the architectural heritage after 1700 ignoring the important of this heritage as the material culture of the history for modern Jordan.

This study goes through the meaning architectural heritage as part of the cultural heritage according to the international conventions. Meanings of architectural heritage depend on the state social, economical, and political situations. The study tackle the development of the meaning of conservation from the protection of a single monument to a whole historical city, it studies the implementation of different tools used in other countries, also the sources for their national strategies. All information has been collected through reviewing the written resources, an internet, and real case studies of different countries as Norway and Syria, studying inventory and management systems for cultural heritage, this information has been connected to the situation of Jordan architectural heritage to come out with a suggested strategy.

The suggested national strategy depends on sustainable development as part of the national environmental strategy; it depends on the public participation and enforcement of protection laws, economical incentives, right of ownership and the availability of enough fund or economical tools for the preservation of the architectural heritage of Jordan.
