Abstract:
Traditional architecture resembles an important part of the history and heritage of Jordan, a part that requires serious and responsible understanding of its role in establishing the historical cultural identity of this part of the world.
The conservation of traditional architecture in Jordan is a timely issue that is gaining great concern due to the rapid change in the urban and which result in serious threats that could lead to the loss of a significant part of our architectural heritage.
An important part of the conservation activity that is taking place in Jordan is the adaptive reuse and rehabilitation of traditional buildings. Several projects have been executed in the last few years, the study of a number of these pioneering projects is in this research in which design, technical and issues are this is proceeded by a literature review that forms the theoretical background of the study the presentation an analysis of two international case studies one from Italy and the other from Tunisia.
The study and analysis of the local resulted in specific findings and conclusions in addition to identifying the problems and difficulties that are confronting this relatively new type of conservation activity.
Recommendations are presented in the final part ranging from general framework |
