Abstract:
Libya experienced several events that led to cultural quality change in the society, such changes caused housing pattern change as the traditional houses in the area disappeared, some spaces which presented main elements of the traditional house disappeared as well, in addition to construction style change.
This research, deals with housing analysis at the west mountain region in Libya which is one of the five sub- region that form Tripoli region therefore, we found that it is necessary to trace the housing pattern to realize the types of change occurred, and to what extent they meet the individual requirements, and to recognize the type of technology applied, all this in order to evaluate the change occurred to the house pattern in dealing with the house we applied three level analysis:
On the first level we discussed the definition, explanation and meaning that the inhabitant may hold for the house and the factors effecting it.
On the second level we discussed the objective determinants for the life style in the region of the study, which has been divided into two sections: in the first section we discussed the constant and variables the region to give a brief description about the region, in term of the, location, historical dimension, population, and climate factors, and in the second section we discussed the traditional and contemporary culture in the study area and the most prominent of which is some general features and its housing patterns, and we classified such patterns according to basis we think it will help us to understand the argument that we would like to present through this research.
On the third level we discussed the subjective determinants in a form of a survey including a questioner which consists the following six axes: general information, design environment inhabitant satisfaction about his house and services and supplies available in the house, in addition to persona interviews with some individuals in the region to achieve the meaning of the term house from their point of view.
The most important results of the study is the necessity to attend the traditional houses built under the ground applied in the pre- oil era with their particular transformation plans, it was clear that all the person's were satisfied with their houses due to several factors, the most important of which is the availability of all functional elements and spaces, despite lake of housing patterns quality in terms of convenient internal temperature and the application of modern technology to provide suitable internal climate condition. |
