Abstract:
My thesis sheds light on the visual and perceptual characteristics of commercial streets in Amman city through the study and the analysis of the visual and perceptual characteristics in Khalid Ibn Al-Waleed Street.
First chapter summarizes the problem statement, and the importance of die visual dimension in structuring the form of the city. Also it summarizes the objectives of research that deal with the enhancement of the visual environment of the commercial streets in Amman city.
Second chapter sheds light on the theories, and laws of visual perception. Also it discusses two similar case studies.
Third chapter sheds light on the physical and legislative situation of Khalid Ibn Al-Waleed Street as one of the important commercial streets in Amman city. Also it sheds light on the influence of the development process of the street on its visual and spatial characteristics.
The fourth chapter tackles the visual issues and characteristics of Khalid Ibn Al-Waleed street such as, the visual coherence, integration, unity, continuity, and legibility of its image. This chapter tackles also some visual problems such as, the visual pollution and deterioration.
Last chapter summarizes the results and the recommendations of the thesis which focus on the visual dimension as an important one in the process of planning the built environment. |
