Abstract:
The study is concerned with the effect of cultural similarity on the main characteristics of the built environment, in order to clarify the changes in the built environment and its reasons. The environment is closely linked to culture, this man-environment is closely linked to culture, this man environment interaction can be seen in terms of congruence, whereby people try to match their characteristics, values, expectations and norms, behaviors and so on to physical environments. So it was worthy to study the relation between the culture of certain social group and their built environment, then conclude the reasons of changes.
The first chapter explains the problem statement of the study, its goals, and objectives and methodology and hypothesis. The second chapter is concerned with the main concepts in this thesis, culture, environment, housing and visual analysis for different housing projects in Amman, which represents the theoretical background for the study. The third chapter analyzes prince Rashed suburb environment (physically and visually), either the whole site or the units (buildings). The fourth chapter sums the previous chapters in a form of conclusions and recommendations.
The study has confined itself within the culture, but it is oblivious in the conclusion that other dimensions such as social, economical and environment have a great role *in designing the main characteristics of the built environment also the administration and organization reduces the visual pollution. |
