Islamic Architecture   stereotypic Historic Islamic City Is there a pattern that would explain the layout, historically, of Islamic Cities and towns? Would one say Kufa in the 7th century, or Samanid Bukhara or perhaps Safavid Isfahan would be the model that most Islamic Cities were patterned after?
