hello and Assalamualaikum guys!
i am doing a special topic regarding the quality aspects of open and semi open spaces.
i would like to start by listing the heirarchy of open spaces in a built form,ranging from a niche on a wall creating a sense of openess to the courtyards, chatris or semi-covered pathways.and basically the formation of open spaces.
secondly,qualitative analysis:
the mood of a space,the type of open space that can be formed for that particular mood, the quality needed and the different means for achieving it.
for instance when the mood is observation, the quality needed might be visibilty, light etc.the treatment can be done in the arrangements , in the heights or even through materials.
like how charles correa in his design uses platform and steps to create scared spaces in between built form or how he emphasizes on light from great heights..
I would like some ideas and suggestions to proceed.
My thesis is-CENTRE FOR ISLAMIC AESTHETICS- which will have a charatcer of a cultural institute.i am looking forward to apply my studies in it as well.
