Known as the gateway of the Sahara, Goulmim was once a caravan stopover on the road to Timbuktu.
Today is an important place of trade and exchange between the settled
population and nomads of the desert. There is a weekly camel market, the
largest in Morocco.
“The Music of this group was made
exclusively by means of voices accompanied by one drum. (See sheet 8B.) The two
numbers on this reel were presented as something clearly in the nature of a
prelude to the dance music which was to follow.”
