Islamic art studies in the United Kingdom
Salam to all,

I have just finished my BSC degree in Architecture from Jordan University and I'm thinking about continuing my study in Islamic Art but I need help in finding good colleges and programs mainly in UK. I would be really grateful if anyone can recommend some colleges so that I'll check them back. Peace.

You could contact SOAS UCL London. They have an excellent Islamic Art and Architecture department there. A good contact would be Prof. Geoffery King. The University of Leeds also have an excellent Arabic & Middle Eastern Studies department you may wish to contact. Hope this helps.

I understand there are only three places to study Islamic art in the UK (SOAS, the University of Edinburgh (with Professor Hillenbrand) and Oxford). I did, however, also hear of a department starting up at St Andrews but this could only be a rumour.

SOAS is a very good place to study Islamic art and architecture(it is not part of UCL incidentally, it is part of the University of London).
It is also possible to study Islamic art in a more practical and traditional sense at the Prince's Foundation in London, they provide MA and Ph.D courses as well as specific short courses on e.g geometry.

In Edinburgh, as far as I know, Prof Hillenbrand is having his last semester.

You might try the V.I.T.A. (Visual Islamic & Traditional Arts program) at the Prince of Wales Institute of Architecture in London, UK.
