Islamic Architecture
stereotypic Historic Islamic City
Is there a pattern that would explain the layout, historically, of Islamic Cities and towns? Would one say Kufa in the 7th century, or Samanid Bukhara or perhaps Safavid Isfahan would be the model that most Islamic Cities were patterned after? Would like to start a discussion on this subject for an Islamic Studies I'm taking with U C Davis

Pete, have you read "A Sense of Unity" by Ardalan and Bakhtiar? This should give you something to consider. :)
